Importance of
Child Dedications

No one will have more influence

on your child than YOU!
It is our hope that Granite United Church can partner with you from the very beginning to build a Christian Home as you raise your child to know what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The vision of Granite United Church is to make fully devoted followers of Christ! One way that we accomplish that vision is by partnering with parents to help raise their children to love and honor God, and to one day give their lives to HIM!

The act of Child Dedications is a church tradition, not a biblical mandate. But the scriptures are very clear in Deuteronomy 6:4-7 and Ephesians 6:1-4 that it is the responsibility of the parents, as stewards of God, to shepherd their children to know, honor, love and obey God.

At Granite United Church, we keep the church tradition of Child Dedications as a way to allow parents an opportunity to publicly covenant with God, their children and their church that they are dedicated as parents to follow Jesus, to build a Christian home, to model the Christian life and to shepherd their children to know and love Jesus.

There are some Parent Requirements as you take this step of Child Dedication:
Have a personal relationship with Jesus!
Be a part of your local Granite United Church Campus!
Be parents or legal guardians of the child.
Attend or plan to attend a Pastor’s Hangout (or previously have attended Starting Point)
You must commit to building a Christian Home to raise your child in, and commit to pursuing a God-Honoring Life. Most common examples, if a couple is cohabitating we ask you to consider marriage as your next step.

Child dedication is a serious commitment before the Lord. As your church we want to make sure that we are dedicating children and parents who are committed to honoring Christ with the most crucial relationship in the home.
If you meet all of the above requirements, the next step is to have a conversation with your Campus Pastor to move to the next step. One way to do that is to complete the interest form below. Once you do that and speak to your Campus Pastor you will receive a registration form for the Parent Dedication Class.

The Parent Dedication Class is required for parents to attend before being part of the child dedication. If you have attended once, you will not have to repeat the class unless you want to! The Parent Dedication Class is typically offered 2 weeks prior to the Child Dedication at the Salem Campus.
